Costco has theirs for $14.99 still so maybe Sam's Club is just ahead of the curve on the price increases. I will continue monitoring the situation. I did buy a lot of canned chicken a couple of months ago when the avian influenza story started circulating. I genuinely hope we never have to eat them but I ain't eating GMO bug burgers
We buy our meat and poultry mostly directly through our local farmers. Several of them are Amish (I live in S.E. PA). Another regional/local organic chain sells eggs and chickens through family-owned farm co-ops. However, COSTCO actually has grass-fed burger patties. Add a little sea salt and that's all we need.
jealous of your Amish farmers, we get our pastured beef from one local farmer (got a full beef in the freeze) our pastured chicken from another and a produce box every week from a third. And then there is only one local farm that sells raw milk. Think it's very important to establish relationships with farmers
I like Weston A Price foundation's idea to spend half of your food dollars with local farmers. https://www.westonaprice.org/find-nutrient-dense-foods BUT I do buy those Costco patties you are talking about because when we're grilling burgers with friends it is easier than making patties myself
The only food items I produce are cherry tomatoes (although my preschooler eats most of them right off the vine) and eggs but despite the crazy chicken lady number of chickens I have I only got 2 eggs today. Think it's the heat. So today I bought eggs for the first time in months. 24 organic pastured for $9 at Costco which I thought was decent. If we lost power for an extended period of time we'd lose a lot of good meat which worries me so it's good to have some shelf stable meat on hand
Just got a portable (Duromax) 13000 watt whole house generator and a 120 gallon propane tank to save our food (and stay comfy) in the event of the grid getting COVID. Can't do pemican.🤮
Not at all. The generator was $1600 delivered from Home Depot. The Tank, filled and installed was $1575. It should give me about 5 days of continuous run time. The propane company can get here in a day's notice if the roads aren't iced over. I have an electrician friend who will be installing the exterior receptacle and tying it to our electrical panel for free (had to purchase a 50 foot RV cable and few other bits for about $250.)
Hard to "like" this, but…yeah.
I busted out laughing when I saw it. Insane!
